New Mobility Equipment Enhancing Rehabilitation and Safety in Long-Term Care

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Taber & District Health Foundation has successfully funded the purchase of a new floor-mounted portable transfer pole system for Long-Term Care.

This specialized mobility and transfer device replaces older ceiling-mounted pole systems that are no longer considered a safe option due to liability and safety concerns. The new floor-mounted design provides patients with a secure and reliable way to support themselves during rehabilitation while eliminating the risks associated with ceiling-supported equipment.

The portable system can be easily moved when needed and features an adjustable locking mechanism that enhances functionality, flexibility, and safety during transfers and mobility exercises.

This equipment will play an important role in helping short-term stay patients regain strength, mobility, and independence more efficiently so they can return home sooner. By supporting patients in achieving or exceeding their pre-hospitalization level of function, the transfer pole can help improve outcomes, preserve dignity and autonomy, and reduce the negative physical impacts often associated with extended hospital stays.

In addition to benefiting patients throughout Taber, Barnwell, Grassy Lake, Enchant, Hays, Vauxhall, and the MD of Taber, the equipment will also support healthcare staff by providing a safer and more versatile tool to assist with patient mobility and rehabilitation.

The Taber & District Health Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to all donors whose generosity continues to enhance healthcare close to home. Your support helps bring innovative, practical solutions to local care environments, improving the health and well-being of residents across our region.
