Fall Campaign to Support Surgical Advancements

The Taber & District Health Foundation is launching its Fall Campaign from October 14 to 19, with a goal of raising $200,000 to compliment the critical upgrades to surgical equipment at the Taber Health Centre. This campaign will be promoted through social media and mailouts, and donations will be accepted until December 31. The funds raised will focus on two key areas of improvement: advanced imaging technology and expanded podiatry surgical capabilities.

One of the major investments includes the acquisition of the Stryker 1688 AIM 4K Platform, a surgical visualization system designed to enhance performance across nine specialties such as arthroscopy, laparoscopy, ENT, and hysteroscopy. This system offers 4K resolution, improved light sensitivity, and enhanced fluorescence imaging, allowing surgeons to better visualize perfusion and critical anatomy. The upgrade will replace outdated video equipment in both OR theatres, significantly improving the clarity, efficiency, and precision of surgical procedures.

In addition to imaging enhancements, this campaign will also fund new equipment for podiatry surgeries. Currently, the surgical team must rent cannulated screw sets from vendors, which limits the number of procedures that can be performed daily and complicates medical device reprocessing. By acquiring in-house podiatry equipment, Dr. Allred—Taber’s dedicated podiatrist—will be able to perform more surgeries consistently and efficiently, reducing patient wait times and increasing the number of procedures completed each day.

This campaign represents a meaningful opportunity for the community to invest in the future of local healthcare. Every donation, no matter the size, helps bring advanced surgical care closer to home and ensures that the Taber Health Centre remains equipped to meet the growing needs of its patients. Together, we can make a lasting impact—donate today and help us reach our goal by December 31.
