I'm born and raised Taber farm girl and now reside in Calgary, Alberta, as a second-year Athletic Therapy student at Mount Royal University. Growing up, I was always active in sports, my community and had a passion for helping people. I knew I wanted to work in the medical field, not just in the diagnosis but also in healing. I am fascinated by the design, ingenuity and miraculousness of the human body. All of my interests and passions led me to the Athletic Therapy program. Upon graduation, I will have the opportunity to write my certification exam to be a Certified Athletic Therapist. After this, I would like to pursue a Masters in Rehabilitation Medicine, Physical Therapy. At MRU, I volunteer with the Peer to Peer Mental Health Education Team; I have learned a lot about different mental health issues and recognize the need to focus on one's mental health just as much if not more than our physical health. My dream job would be to work at a Wellness Centre that treats the patient's physical issue(s) and all aspects of the patient's (their mental, physical and emotional) health. This scholarship will allow me to focus on my academics and move me closer to fulfilling my dreams.
My name is Josh, and I am in the Bachelor of Nursing course at Lethbridge College. Right now school is all online but in the winter semester I am moving into the residence at the College. This scholarship is going to help me to pay for the expenses of going to college! It will be extremely useful to help me to pay for my textbooks, to pay for housing, and just everyday expenses.
